Central Court

Still think the door is in the wrong colour limestone , I expect they rather hope the story is forgotten after a few years.

However  great place for a snack and a cup of coffee..

And to rest the feet..

Buy a Tshirt with the Rossetta Stone on it.

The Egyptian Gallery

Head of Rameses, how did they ship this out without getting it scratched, apparently buried in the sand for over 2,000 years before being excavated by the archeologists and sent back.

Head of Imoeptep

Another of the Pharoahs, this time middle kingdom, just so well exhibited in the gallery. Not overdone, the Egyptian governement is building a new museum to hold the collection from the Cairo Museum, this is modern with all the advantatges that this will bring.

The Cairo museum of antiquites is quite an jumble but really excitig to visit. Make the effort....

Be AMAZED

Visit the British Museum and be amazed at the collection. In spite of the age of the exhibits and how they came to be in London, they are exhibited in the best possible surroundings and available FREE to lots of visitors.

You can see them close up and wander around the galleries taking in generations of art and artifacts which are truly astonishing

Sarcophogus Lid

Is that right is it called a lid, this is a fine example of one of these. The work in the relief is so detailed.

I have to say in this case the difficulty in exhibiting the piece has defeated the curator the sides and top require close inspection but how to do this.

As it is it is quite astonishingly preserved.
